Culture & traditions in Wagrain
Did you know that Wagrain is one of the Stille Nacht places in the Salzburger Land? Joseph Mohr, the writer of the song „Silent Night“, lived in Wagrain from 1837. A specially dedicated museum in the Pflegerschlössl is open all year round. But the magic of the Christmas carol unfolds particularly during the Christmas season at numerous events.
Not far from the Pflegerschlössl, another famous person is commemorated: the Austrian poet Karl Heinrich Waggerl, who lived here for 50 years. In today's Museum at the Kirchboden in Wagrain you can immerse yourself in Waggerl's literary work. From mid-June to mid-September, those interested in culture can take part in guided cultural walks through the town. Here you will get to know Wagrain from its cultural and historical side.
